International Law
Kline Preston’s unique experience having studied in the Soviet Union as an undergraduate as well as having served as a research assistant to Dr. Igor Kavass, author of Gorbachev’s Law and, arguably, one of the foremost authorities on Soviet Law, while in law school, is a true advantage for his clients. Mr. Preston has over fifteen year’s experience in legal, business, and cultural relations in the Soviet Union, The Russian Federation, and Ukraine . In the early 1990’s, just after the fall of the Soviet Union, Mr. Preston founded and headed, while still in law school, an investment and trade firm which invested in Russian securities and held a broker’s seat on the RTSB (one of the first Russian stock exchanges), as well as successfully importing a premium vodka, Kievskaya Rus, for distribution throughout the U.S.
Kline Preston represented the founder and manager of the Grammy-nominated band Bering Straits, formerly known as Siberian Heat Wave, in his contract dispute with the members of the band. Mr. Preston was successful in convincing the Judge of the 3 rd Circuit Court for Davidson County, Nashville, Tennessee, Nashville, to apply Russian law in interpreting the contract between the parties.
